Social call for music attached to Valerio Berruti's L'abbraccio più forte. I co-authored the call and contributed as a musician; the work was exhibited at the MAC USP Museum of Contemporary Art in São Paulo (Além exhibition, 2021) with the 100+ soundtracks playing over the animation.
art, 2020

From valerioberruti.com — "With the initiative L'abbraccio più forte (The tightest hug), launched in March 2020, Valerio Berruti committed to give one of his drawings to anyone who made a donation of at least 300 euros to the Fondazione Nuovo Ospedale Alba-Bra Onlus to deal with the Covid-19 emergency. The subjects represented, two children in an embrace, became one of the symbols of solidarity during the pandemic. Donations came from all over Italy and also from abroad, involving Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Japan and Australia."
The initiative ended with 768 drawings and a book (Gallucci editore) and raised over 260 thousand euros for the cause. The works became the frames of an animation.
Hugs4Music is the social call I co-authored with Valerio: musicians from all over the world were invited to write an original soundtrack for the animation and to share it with the hashtag #hugs4music. More than a hundred musicians answered — jazz, rock, electronic, folk. I contributed one of those soundtracks.
The animation, with the 100+ soundtracks layered over it, and a fresco made for the occasion were shown at Além de 2020 — Arte italiana na pandemia, curated by Teresa Emanuele and Nicolas Ballario, at the MAC USP Museum of Contemporary Art in São Paulo, Brazil — 29 May to 26 September 2021.
